Learn to Restring Pearls
Wattsson & Wattsson Jewelers will host a pearl restringing class to benefit The Women’s Center on March 23. The class, instructed by Chris Wattsson, owner of Wattsson & Wattsson Jewelers, will teach both knotted and unknotted stringing styles. Participants will receive equipment that can be taken home, including stringing trays, string for 18" pearl strands, clasps and plastic pearl beads to practice with.
All proceeds will be donated to the Women's Center, Inc., who supports victims/survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Marquette and Alger Counties.
“I really wanted to empower women to care for their jewelry,” said Wattsson. “Instead of paying every 3 years, pearl strand owners will be able to perform routine maintenance on their own. I enjoy working on jewelry, and look forward to sharing my knowledge with others.”
The class will be held on Thursday, March 23 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. in the Women’s Center Conference Room. Registration is $50. Class size is limited to 12 people, and will be repeated in the future based on demand. Registration is available online and in store at Wattsson & Wattsson Jewelers, located at 118 W Washington Street in Downtown Marquette.
