Love Story: Jerry + Katie

In September of 2015, Katie and Jerry met (of all places) by swiping right. Yes, they met on Tinder (a social media dating app).  After a few days of messaging back and forth, the two exchanged phone numbers.

In early October, Jerry asked Katie out for a bite to eat. The two met up at Buffalo Wild Wings, followed by bowling and ice cream.

Their second date was the next day: an afternoon hike at Sugarloaf. That’s where the two fell in love.

In March of 2016, Jerry took a trip to Wattsson & Wattsson, where he picked out Katie’s ring. It was the first one he saw: a simple, elegant round diamond in an illusion setting on a white gold band.

A few days after he bought the ring, Jerry got two thumbs up from Katie’s parents to pop the question. In the middle of all of that, the couple bought a house, which threw a slight wrench into Jerry’s original engagement plan of proposing on Mackinac Island.

On June 3rd, 2016, Jerry’s engagement plan, which involved his parents and Katie’s parents, was executed. According to Katie, Jerry “tricked her” into getting her to Presque Isle Park. (In her defense, Jerry did tell a slight fib about a dinner reservation to put his plan into action).

With their parents watching, Jerry got down on one knee and asked Katie to spend the rest of her life with him. With tears coming from both of their eyes, Katie said yes.

The two are getting married in Marquette on June 17, 2017. They reside in Harvey with their golden retriever, Luna.
